Questions New Bloggers Keep Asking

I should state up front that I am no blogging expert. However, I've been at it for nearly four years! This post is probably the most useful for absolute beginner bloggers. Here are the three biggest questions I've seen floating around that new bloggers tend to ask-- things I definitely asked myself three years ago. To be honest, since I've started a new blog, I've been asking myself again!

1. How do I get pageviews on my blog?

There is a long answer and a short answer to this.
The short answer is to post content worth reading, and do it regularly.

The longer answer goes something like this: make sure you've got original, valuable, well-written content on your blog, include pictures, post consistently, and promote your blog using social media.

The first bit is pretty easy. Don't go copying other people's work, edit and spell-check your blog posts, and put some love into it. I'm a firm believer that one can tell if a blogger likes blogging by the nature of their content. If you love to write and enjoy sharing your content, rock on. Remember your audience and post within a general subject. For example, my blog is beauty and lifestyle (so, how I live my life) based. I'm not going to be posting about Bitcoin or international news on here.

Include photos, preferably ones that you take yourself. To avoid copyright issues and potential lawsuits, original photos taken by you are the best way to go.Yes, those things sound scary. Avoid them by using your own images, or using ones available to the public (like Wikipedia images).

Post consistently. It doesn't matter how much you post per week or month as long as you stick to it.

Promoting your blog using social media is a whole topic in itself, and I don't have enough experience doing this to advise properly. Basically, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Bloglovin', Reddit, Google +... they are all your friends. Update them when you create a new post!

2. How do I get people to become loyal readers?

Time. In order for people to become loyal readers, they have to determine for themselves that your blog is worth their time. Sounds a bit harsh, doesn't it? While you can certainly promote yourself on social media enough that people will never forget about your blog, the best way to ensure people coming back for more is to create content they deem worthy of their readership.

There are other ways, like creating contests or doing giveaways. However, I think the best way to build a base of loyal readers is to consistently do your best at what you are doing.

3. I see ________ (insert successful blogger's name here) doing so well! How do I become like that?

First of all, it's both a lot easier and a lot harder to become a successful blogger now then back when they probably started. The most common situation this seems to occur with is when girls start comparing themselves to Zoella,  who is basically the queen of fashion/beauty blogging.

So, in regards to how to become like that-- I have no idea. I'm certainly not making loads of money or fame at this, but if that's your goal as a new blogger, you might want to reconsider your whole blogging thing. If you don't love it, why are you doing it?

It's important to remember that only a few years ago, there weren't many fashion and beauty blogs. It was a lot easier then to climb to the top of the pack. Now days, there are loads and loads of people blogging who have to compete with the giants in the field. I suspect that timing, amiability, charisma and strong writing have a good deal to do with becoming highly successful. There's loads more to that though... this topic could really be dealt with in its own blog post.

I'll also be making a post about feeling jealous about other people's success. It's quite a common occurrence, but while some use it as motivation, others can get quite down about it. I'm somewhere in the middle, but regardless,

So, hopefully I've done my bit on answering some of the questions that new bloggers tend to ask. If your opinions differ, let me know! These were a touch long-winded, but hopefully they helped you!
