Travel Makeup Essentials

I travel a lot, and I think I've finally figured out what makeup is essential to bring while on the road. This is more of a general outline than specific products, but figure out what works for you!

Essential: Something that evens out your skin tone
Why: Travelling is tiring and stressful, and this often shows up on the skin in the form of redness, acne or general discolouration. If you can find a product that can be used as a concealer, base and sunscreen, you've basically won the skin product lottery. Maybelline's Pure Mineral BB cream (purchased in Singapore) is pretty good at all three, but it's a touch light to just wear as a concealer. It does in a pinch, which is why it made the list.

Essential: Lip Colour
Why: Gives your face pop when you're looking tired. A good lip colour will not run or smudge easily and lasts forever. Lip stains or crayons are quite good at this, and are moisturising too. I don't know the brand of this one (I rubbed it off somehow), but find a product that is reliable.

Essential: Lip Repair
Why: Travel is hard on your skin, and it often shows up in the lips. Between long road trips without enough water to drier environments, a lip-save product is a must. This is just Carmex, but it works wonders. Putting on some overnight will make you wake up with soft lips!

Essential: Scent
Why: I'll make a post later about picking a signature scent, but in short, I think smelling good is very important. Bring a small container that doesn't leak, and tape the cap on well.

Sometimes-Essential: Eye Shadow Primer
Why: If you're going somewhere humid, this is definitely essential. Eye shadow primer keeps your eyeshadow on longer and prevents creasing, so personally I think it's quite handy. I have the Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer.

Essential: An Eyeshadow Palette
Why: Bring an eyeshadow palette you know well and can make at least two looks with. I brought the Tokyo Lights 2 Palette by Shu Uemura and used it throughout the trip. Dip a brush or Q-tip into water and use the darkest shade on the palette as an eye-liner!

Essential: Makeup Remover
Why: When you're tired from travelling, it's easy to just flop into bed with your makeup still on. Don't! I try to make taking makeup off as easy as possible on myself while travelling, which is why I picked up some makeup wipes. Be sure to figure out what brand works for you-- they can be quite irritating to the skin.

Did I miss anything? Comment and let me know!
