Makeup for Sick Days

I'm officially getting over the flu. And while I'm delighted to be able to breathe through my nose and not have a fever, it does mean I have to get up and start doing things again. Unfortunately, I still look pretty sick. Thankfully, there's a solution. Makeup to the rescue!

Here's a quick walkthrough for how to look healthy when you're under the weather. I came up with this look yesterday morning when I wanted to go to ice-skating class and not be accused of being a zombie.

1) Complexion

I don't want to wear a full face of makeup when I'm sick, but I'm sure as heck concealing the dark circles, red nose (for what it's worth until I blow my nose again), and weirdly patchy skin. Concealer is your friend, just make sure you blend it out really well. Remember that you're probably a bit paler than usual, so if you've got two concealers, use the lighter of the two.

2) Colour

When I get sick, everyone knows it. It's mostly because I complain nonstop to anyone that will listen, but it's also because I get white as a sheet. To balance this out, swipe a thin layer of powder that is as dark as your maximum natural tan over your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Blend out like crazy, and suddenly you're back to normal.

3) Eyes and Lips
I'm really lazy when it comes to eye makeup in general, but when I'm sick I don't want to do much of anything. So, I swiped the middle colour over my eyes to conceal the veins and tiredness. If you want to add eyeliner and mascara, go to town. I personally don't want to risk irritating my eyes while already sick.

Lips:  Apply a tinted lip balm or lip gloss that's slightly darker than your natural lips. You don't want too bold of lips or it just highlights how pale you are. However, a bit of colour will help brighten the face.

Hope you are staying healthy this season, but if you have gotten sick, that this helps! I'm excited to get back into blogging again after a huge lack of motivation plus sickness. More is on the way :D
