My Mother's Birthday

This year was the first year that I haven't been with my mother on her birthday. Last year, my parents came up to Boston for the long weekend (she's lucky that Patriot's Day is a thing is Massachusetts). I was looking forward to them coming up again this year and meeting my boyfriend, but my dad got sick overseas and couldn't make it. Since I thought my parents were coming up, I had to mail her card yesterday. Whoops.

Oh well, that's life.

I'll be with my parents on my 20th birthday which is coming up in May, but it's still strange to think that I wasn't with my mom on her Who-Knows-She-Looks-So-Young-th birthday (you're welcome, Mom). Every year prior to this one that I've been alive, we've done something together that typically involves flowers, eating sweets, and giving her plant-related gifts.

Here's a picture of us in Myanmar! Since this photo was taken, I have since ended up with both sarongs and wear them around campus. I always forget that the pink one was originally hers... it was actually the one I took first. I guess that's a mother's love though-- putting me before her in so many situations and helping me grow into the person I am today.

Love you Mom! Happy Birthday!
